Exuberant Serenity

Just posted some new original music composed for Overneath Media. This tune was written under expressed parameters which included a beautiful yet modern beginning, a sudden, rocking, double-time chorus, and lots of strings! It also called for a serene middle section that brings it way back for some beautiful shots of scenery. The track turned out pretty great and included some special plug-in packages from East-West and some of the tremendous sounds that come with Logic Studio. August in Kalamazoo

Phew! What a great summer it has been. Graduation videos, wedding ceremonies and receptions, and lots of studio work. It has been such a great month putting the finishing touches on the debut album by Desolation Row! We are looking for a CD release this fall so stay tuned! You may even get a sneak peak or two on the GvG Productions site! Ashley Daneman is also done in the studio! In the next few months she will have a brand new baby (both a LITERAL baby and a FIGURATIVE one in this new album). The new school year brings us recital recording projects, live sound for school plays and musicals, and of course the beautiful fall weddings. Summer Fun!

So I am having so much fun with my wedding clients this month! We have had ceremony players, jazz ensembles, and DJ services all month long! I find it hilarious some of the requests people are making for music.... people seem to really want to Dougie... and Stanky Legg....  but more importantly they are still enjoying their classics.... Revelation Song and Lara Wagner

One of our artists Lara Wagner as been recording her personal demo with us. New on the homepage media player, you can hear Ms. Wagner sing the contemporary Christian worship song "Revelation Song" originally recorded by Gateway Worship. Lara's unique voice and sense of musicality shine through in her rendition of Revelation Song. The music was produced by the GvG Productions studio while Lara Wagner and Gordon van Gent are responsible for the vocals. Have a listen, leave some comments!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy independence day USA! I am guessing that aliens aren't going to attack us again this year, even though I have been scared of that since 1996... We are currently in the full swing of wedding season. Check out the new track on the GvG Productions homepage by Sean Matthew Taylor written BY him and recorded FOR him and his wife to dance their first dance. Great job Sean!  We are currently in the studio with Ashley Daneman. So far it has been a wonderful experience. Her original songwriting is original and a breathe of fresh air. We are also currently finishing up the Desolation Row album. The music is great and it is turning out extremely well. Ashley Daneman

This week we jump into the studio with Ashley Daneman. Ashley is a multi-talented singer/songwriter who has spent much of her career in New York. Ashley has and does combine various pop and jazz styles into a soulful and worshipful sound. We are SO excited to be working with such a talent! We are also in the process of mixing Desolation Row. The album is slated for release this September!

Discover Kalamazoo and Rhino Media

Had a great time at the Discover Kalamazoo luncheon in Lansing this past Thursday! We provided the entertainment for a handful of vendors from Kalamazoo and all over Michigan. Remember to use GvG Productions for your next event. Featured musical acts, background music, specialty music, and even original music.
Also spent time this week with the wonderful guys at Rhino Media Productions. Dan, Jonny, and Kevin were so much fun to work with as we provided a voice-over recording for a Taco Bobs commercial. I'm very excited to work with them again in the future. Overall a pretty productive summer so far!

Music from Josh Burel and Ashley Kimbrough!

Featured in the music on the homepage of the GvG Productions site is two new tracks from this past spring! First on the list is a recording of members of the Western Michigan University Symphony Orchestra playing an original composition by Josh Burel, a recent Master Graduate. Josh is a tremendous composer and we were honored to record his Masters Thesis entitled "Incomplete (six)". The featured movement is the 4th movement.

Also featured is a track from the live recording of Ashley Kimbrough's Masters Thesis Recital. This was one of the most amazing recitals WMU has ever seen and Mrs. Kimbrough and her ensemble took the house down. We got a wonderful recording of the event and this is the final track from the recital featuring many students from the WMU school of music. ENJOY!

Desolation Row

We are very excited to be producing a new ensemble called "Desolation Row. Desolation Row combines the comprehensive term "jazz" with a bit of rock flare. Their instrumental music combines beauty with chaos, love with hate, relief with frustration. It sure makes for a unique sound, definitely worthy of a GvG Production! We are spending the day in the studio today tracking the album. A big thanks to the concerts office at WMU for giving us the recital hall for the day! Also a big thanks to Jon Chong for the video and photography. We will have photos up soon!

QSC K Series

I love these speakers. I own a pair of K-8's as I was not able financially to purchase the larger K-10s or 12s. All three boast 1000Watts of power with different sized drivers. The wide 105 degree spread has been WONDERFUL for DJ settings. In live music settings, it can cause problems if they are not aligned properly (feedback issues). The variety of EQ, Gain, and chaining options make it a VERY versatile speaker system.... oh yea... and they sound GREAT. Combined with the K-Sub, This series is the best bang for the buck you can find.

Wedding Season is Comin'!

Its about that time of year again. We are busy booking musicians and DJs for wedding ceremonies and receptions. I have found this year that many brides aren't sure what music they really want for their ceremony. When they finally decide, each wedding shapes into a very unique experience! We have had weddings with two acoustic guitars and a voice singing beautiful modern indie tunes. We have had weddings that have the more traditional string quartet or piano and violin. It is fun to see the personality of each couple comes out in the music and instrumentation choices. Keep us in mind for your wedding ceremony. And don't forget... we put together personalized wedding bands for your reception! We also book DJs for your wedding dance party!

April's comin'!

April is almost here. We are currently producing a CD release concert and tour for our featured artist Nich Mueller along with doing live-sound, videography, and recording for a variety of recitals and concerts! There is music being written and arranged for events in the area, and weddings being booked through us! We are working with people like Ashley Kimbrough, Angelica Kalasz, Western Michigan University Gold Comapny,  Desolation Row, The Four Corners, All Ears Theatre of Kalamazoo, Discover Kalamazoo, Ashley Daneman, Brittaney Krieder, and so many more! Lots of New Things!

This year has been very busy for GvG Productions! We are currently recording for a variety of demo projects and the reaction has been wonderful. Thanks to all those who continue to use our recording services. GvG Productions is also currently involved with sound for the Loy Norrix High School winter musical "Guys and Dolls". GvG is providing sound design and engineering for the duration of the show. If you have a chance go and see it. February 5th and 6th, and February 10th, 11th, and 12th! GvG is also producing the video work for the 2011 Gold Company Miller Show, Saturday February 12th! Once again GvG teams up with the tremendous Overneath Video crew for this project. One of the biggest projects for this spring is emerging artist Nich Mueller whose debut album and tour, "All In A Day" is being produced by GvG Productions! New Projects

Happy new year everyone! GvG Productions has many new and ongoing projects for the winter and spring. With the steady stream of individual recording projects as well as the ongoing writing of stock music, GvG Productions also is excited to start the booking process for weddings as the summer approaches. You may catch us at a bridal show or two... We are also in the process of promoting a couple of artists in the Kalamazoo area as well as celebrating the release of TWO full length albums associated with GvG Productions. One is by the renown Gold Company program based out of Western Michigan University. This new album is schedule for release in February at their annual show at Miller Auditorium. The second is by a hot new artist named Nich Mueller. His first full-length feature album entitled "All In A Day" is slated for release in April. Look for stopping by one of the CD release tour dates in the Spring! Please keep us in mind for all of those live, original, or recorded music needs!
